3.1.4. Top Dead Point (TDP)

GENERAL INFORMATION

The synchronizing tag on a cover of a gas-distributing belt combined with cutting on an asterisk (are specified by shooters) – model C 16 SE

VMT is a highest point of the cylinder which is reached by the piston at rotation of a bent shaft. Each piston reaches VMT at the end of a step of compression and at the end of a release step. For synchronization of operation of the engine take position of the N1 piston at the end of a compression step for VMT. In all models of cars the N1 piston is located from a gas-distributing belt.

When carrying out capital repairs of the engine factory synchronizing tags are used.

Installation

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Disconnect both wires from accumulator plugs.
2. Remove an external cover of a gas-distributing belt.
3. By means of a wrench turn a bent shaft so that the N1 piston appeared in VMT.
Model 14 NV
4. The index on a back cover of a gas-distributing belt has to be combined with cutting on a pulley of a bent shaft, and the synchronizing tag of an asterisk of the camshaft has to be combined with a tag on a back cover of a gas-distributing belt. When synchronizing tags are combined in the specified way, the N1 piston is in VMT.
All models, except 14 NV
5. The index on a cover of a gas-distributing belt has to be combined with cutting on a pulley of a bent shaft, and the synchronizing tag of an asterisk of the camshaft has to be combined with a tag on a back cover of a gas-distributing belt (see rice. The synchronizing tag on a cover of a gas-distributing belt combined with cutting on an asterisk (are specified by shooters) – model C 16 SE, rice. The synchronizing tag on a cover of a gas-distributing belt combined with cutting on an asterisk (are specified by shooters) – model C 20 NE, rice.
