3.1.10. A gas-distributing belt (C18 NZ, C20 NE which are released till 1993)

Removal

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Disconnect a wire of the minus plug of the accumulator. Disconnect conducting from the sensor of an air stream and the sensor of temperature if they are established.
2. Remove an airintaking branch pipe and the air filter. Remove external covers of a gas-distributing belt.
3. Turn a bent shaft so that to install the N1 piston in VMT.
4. Remove a pulley of a bent shaft.
5. Weaken three fixing bolts of the pump of the cooling system of the engine. Turn the pump to weaken a belt tension.
6. Take off a gas-distributing belt. Take the correct adjusting arrangement of a belt into account.

Installation

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Make sure that the N1 piston is in VMT.
2. Put on a belt asterisks.
3. Adjust a belt as shown below.
4. Establish a pulley of a bent shaft.
5. Establish external covers of a gas-distributing belt.
6. Connect a wire of the minus plug of the accumulator.

Adjustment

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Adjustment of a tension of a belt you see off by means of the special KM-510-A tool. Read the instruction for use of KM-510-A.
2. Remove external covers of a gas-distributing belt.
3. Unscrew spark plugs.
4. Turn the camshaft on a quarter of a turn clockwise.
5. Install the measuring KM-510-A device on the middle of a belt between an asterisk of the camshaft and the pump of the cooling system.
6. Slowly weaken the lever on the device and slightly a postukayta on time device two or three. Remember indications on a scale.
7. If you did not receive the required indications, weaken three bolts of the pump of the cooling system and turn the pump in the necessary direction to receive necessary instrument readings. Turning the pump clockwise, you increase belt tension and vice versa.
8. Slightly tighten fixing bolts of the pump that it did not rotate.
9. Remove the measuring device and turn a bent shaft clockwise on one whole revolution.
10. Again check a belt tension.
11. If necessary carry out repeated adjustment.
12. After end tighten pump bolts till the necessary moments of an inhaling.
13. Screw in spark plugs and establish belt covers.

Temporary adjustment

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove external covers of a gas-distributing belt.
2. If you have no special device, then the tension of a belt can be checked approximately, having overwound it fingers in an average point. At application of small effort the belt has to be overwound no more than on 90 °.
3. If necessary carry out adjustment of a tension of a belt.
4. If you doubt correctness of adjustment, address the expert.
5. Do not forget to tighten cooling system pump bolts till the necessary moments of an inhaling.
