12.6. Repair of considerable damages

GENERAL INFORMATION

Considerable damages of a body need to be repaired at service stations at which there is an equipment for body repair.

If extensive damages take place, it is necessary to check body geometry. They can also influence characteristics of driving or lead to the fact that other components will quicker wear out.

Because all main components of a body (a cowl, wings, etc.) represent separate elements which can be replaced, best of all to give their replacement, but not repair. Sometimes the required details can be found in shops selling second-hand spare parts that is much cheaper, than purchase of new.

Each 5000 km, or each three months need to be applied several drops of low-viscous oil or lubricant for locks on loops and latches on doors, a cowl and a luggage carrier. Latches of door locks need also to be covered with a thin layer of jellied lubricant to reduce wear and to provide the free movement. Grease locks of doors and a cowl with graphite lubricant.

Replacement of a windshield and motionless glasses demands use of the special fast-cured glue or the condensing structure and some specialized devices. These operations are recommended to be performed at car repair shops.
